Spits happens. Take a break and explore this coastal ribbon of paradise.

Located minutes from downtown Comox, Goose Spit Park is a narrow strip of sand and gravel that stretches into Comox Harbour. The spit forms a natural breakwater, creating calm, sheltered water on the harbour side while offering open views across the Strait of Georgia.

For paddlers, it’s an ideal launch point. The protected inner waters are perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding, while the outer side can bring wind and swell that challenge more experienced paddlers. From the water, sweeping views of the Beaufort Range and the Comox Glacier create a spectacular backdrop. Seals and seabirds are common sights, with sea lions and even whales occasionally spotted offshore. Goose Spit also carries deep cultural and historical significance. The area lies within the traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation and later became home to HMCS Quadra during World War II. Today, the park protects important coastal habitat while offering easy water access, picnic areas, and wide beaches for exploring.
