It's called the Mighty Columbia for a reason

The Columbia River originates in the East Kootenay region and flows for 2,000 kilometres through four mountain ranges before reaching the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. Nowhere is it easier to access the river than Castlegar, however, because it passes right alongside the city’s downtown core. In fact, one of the best places to put in is Millennium Park, an urban park located four blocks from the main business centre, and from there you can enjoy world-class kayak fishing for trout and walleye or spot three-metre-long sturgeon swimming under your SUP.
